Johnny Decimal
Johnny.Decimal is designed to help you find things quickly, with more confidence, and less stress.
I use this system to organize my “knowing”: notes, journals, references, project materials, that kind of thing. My notes, roadmap, and references for this website are all in Obsidian at 2x Industrious/21 Websites/21.02 Industrious One. I can type <Cmd-O>21.02<Enter> and I’m there. On the file system, the code and assets are at ~/21 Websites/02 Industrious One so I can just open a Terminal session and type cd 21<Tab>02<Tab><Enter> and I’m there. Love!

Notes
- If this sounds cool to you and you decide to give it a go, my big lesson learned is to start with the simplest thing and let it evolve organically. My first few takes went way off into the weeds, but now I just have four top level areas: personal, creative, professional, and “infrastructure”, which is sort of an “everything else” and where I put notes about each of my computers, and manuals for appliances, and all the software I use, etc.
- The second lesson is to track all your to-do’s and next actions somewhere else. Mr. Decimal uses Things. I track mine in a top-level
Actions/folde in Obsidian.
